Q&a: Who Makes the Best Therapeutic Massage Chair?

Question by cande56755: Who makes the best therapeutic massage chair?

For massage therapists.
This would be the most useful kind of chair – kind of a chair equivalent to the Honda accord.

Answer by dcslmt
Oakworks, hands down. The Oakworks Portal Pro 3 is the only chair I will use or recommend anymore. The design is just genius; it’s very lightweight, and you can adjust for not only the client’s size, but your own height as well. With a sternum pad, it’s even comfortable for very pregnant women because of the shape of the frame.

Those chairs actually make me feel a bit nauseated…. I always turn them off when I am getting a pedicure.

Not so much the vibrating ones as much as the ones with the rolling shiatzu massagers. I would probably start getting my hair colored again if I could sit in one of those for 20 minutes! It’s a genius idea!

What Is the Finest Massage Chair Available on the Market Today? Any Recommended Brands?

Question by ♥Sansa♥: What is the finest massage chair available on the market today? Any recommended brands?

I’m looking for a very good massage chair, but I’ve never bought one before, so I have no idea what to look for. Are there some reliable brands out there? Price is no matter; I just want a good quality one that will last. Thanks for your help.

Answer by ivy_lmt
Check out www.massageprofessionals.com – Search “best massage chair” in the upper right corner. There are some good insights. I am also looking for a chair right now. I would love to get the dolphin chair that goes horizontal (very expensive), but I know I will be using the chair very little to justify the price. Right now I am looking at a brand new Earthlite Vortex that is on craigslist. We will see.

What Is the Best Portable Massage Chair on the Market?

Question by Kim N: What is the best portable massage chair on the market?

I need a portable massage chair to use at an office to give short massages. I have used the Stronglite brand and found that it is ok, but I do not like how difficult it is to put back in the case. I think the other brand I have used was Ergo Lite (?) and it didn’t feel stable enough. I want something light weight, stable, easy to set up and break down, and hopefully under $ 500. Any suggestions are welcome even if they aren’t completely perfect.

Answer by Attractive cutie9
have you tried looking at rite aid?they have pretty good ones, not even expensive

Answer by Scooch
Oakworks. They have the best design, best construction, best quality and best ease of use. They cost a little more and weigh slightly more comparatively, but you will enjoy the stability, durability and ease of adjustments it offers. I believe most are under $ 500 if you don’t get too crazy with upgrades of vinyl, padding or accessories.

You may even be able to find a discounted product from the factory, or a “pre-owned” version on auction sites. Buyer beware, though.

Q&a: Are the Shiatsu Massage Chairs Good?

Question by Simon Harris: are the shiatsu massage chairs good?

just won one off ebay with the proper electric rollers inside it, not just a vibration one…does it feel really good and do a good massage? one of my friends said it’s like getting one off a professional?? If so that sounds really good, love massages haha. thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Rick
Maybe you should have asked prior to bidding :-) ) I’ve found that the effectiveness of the massage chairs depends on your height and weight. I’m taller and heavier than average, so when the rollers are supposed to be at the base of my neck, they’re at my shoulder blades instead. And the chair sometimes labors with my heaviness. Also, it depends on what massage experiences you and your friend have had. The chairs, in my opinion, are never as good as a competent, effective massage therapist. Having said all this, it’s possible that the chair may be a perfect fit for your body, and you might be extremely pleased with your purchase. Hope you enjoy it!

Massage Chairs? Safe to Use?

Question by Jbrodty: Massage chairs? Safe to use?

I’m 39 weeks and desperate for my baby to come out. My stepmom got a massage pad for christmas and she set it up today on the couch and I was wondering if it was safe to use. I know they advise against it because it can cause premature labor but since I’m 39 weeks does that mean that it could give my labor a kick start? I don’t want to do anything to harm my baby of course, just want to sit in the massage chair really. It looks super comfortable.
thanks =]

Answer by Pat
Have you made completely sure your printer is connected to your spyware? That can cause problems during the transit of the new light bulb to the posterboard, as you could receive minor burns while applying the coat of polyurine to the floor.

Answer by Sonja S
Massage almost always induces labor. You might want to check which pressure points it presses and/or how strong the vibrations are. While gentle soothing vibrations might just help you relax, strong vibrations combined with right acupressure points might actually start labor.
Here is a great website on massage and labor induction:

Massage Chairs Vs. Live Massages?

Question by 3120007: Massage Chairs vs. Live Massages?

What are some of the pros and cons of each? Massage chairs are generally expensive, are they worth it? how close do they mimic a live massage?

Best answer:

Answer by Sugarbaby
YOU can’t tell chair that’s too hard or move up or down. I Have seen inserts for a regular highback chair for about $ 100
that not to bad, is it? I like them both . If I had to choose I perfer live massages.

Answer by Tristy
massage chairs are ok… they only work in certain areas.. which means only certain areas of your back (or wherever) are being massaged, and generally, its not in your problem areas. and because its the same circular motion, at the same speed and intensity, i don’t think it works very well. whereas live massages, they work the areas that need to be worked on. they use different techniques and can apply the appropriate pressure. My dad has a portable massage thing that goes on the couch. whenever i use it, it bruises me because it’s too hard.

Answer by mustangs2010@sbcglobal.net
i rather live massags because tell the person where you are hurting and the message chair doesn’t really get the spots i want them to get

Answer by Genie♥Angel
Live massages are of course better but they are very expensive over the long haul.

The massage chairs can do a really good job. You have to test them all to make a decision. I love the expensive ones unfortunately, but what I love is the calf massage… better than massuese actually.

Also the roller bars do a great job on the back too.

Answer by miketatz
massage chairs are good if there is no one around who can do massage. Let’s say in the middle of the night. It can be quite relaxing. But the problem is that most of these things put out a lot of Electro magnetic radiation, something that has been connected to cancer. So in case that’s true, there is possibly a big health gamble. No machine can replace a good massage therapist’s hand. As it is not just applying massage, but also able to check and feel changes. It’s probably best for you and your to learn massage, then you probably don’t need to get a massage chair.

Answer by Matt H
I’m sorry but as a massage student I will have to disagree that a chair can even begin to compete. Were I go to school we have a sharper image store close by so I went it and this we when I was just starting the program, I really had no opinion at the time on massage chairs. after visting I thought that the chairs sucked, even the $ 4000 ones compare to massage students that have been in school for >2 months! Overall they are fine to relax with if that’s your thing (They make me sick to my stomach) but if you really have something going on then they aren’t going to make a dent in it. A good alternative would be to go on a site like www.massagewarehouse.com and get one of the professional hand held massagers. These are going to be much less expensive and much more effective at achieving results from tight muscles.

Good luck

Massage Chairs and Bulging Spinal Discs?

Question by delusionalenigma: Massage chairs and bulging Spinal Discs?

My mother had two bulging spinal discs in her lower back(3&4) And before we rfound out, my dad got her a massage chair for christmas (because she was complaining of back pain) if we give it to her now, will it help her feel better? Or will it cause her pain?

Best answer:

Answer by dr.kristen
It shouldn’t cause her any more pain, but it may not really help her a whole lot either. Make sure she starts with it on a low setting, and make sure she only sits in it for a short amount of time to be sure she doesn’t irritate things too much to begin with. She could then gradually increase the time she spends in the chair as well as increasing the settings on the massage/ vibrations in the chair.

Answer by massagebyj9
I would not suggest she use it without consent from her doctor. As the other answer indicated, start with a low setting. Massage is an excellent method of therapy when done by a trained professional. Sadly, chairs and “thumpers” are made for a generic body size.

Sometimes they work well for one person, but can do damage to another. As a massage therapist with hundreds of hours working for doctors, I can assure you the damage they can do is not worth the risk.

I retail massage chairs in the US and it would probably not be cool to call a competitor in the US, like Human Touch, but have you considered contacting a chinese manufacturing company about the certifications? Go to www.alibaba.com and type in “massage chairs” in the search field and a bunch of chinese companies will come up, many of which already ship their products to the US.

Hope this assists in some way.
